Baby Glow Maternity Spa Launches in Knightsbridge
26 June 2007
Pregnancy and birth puts the body through an enormous amount of stress and strain, both physically and psychologically. A newly opened spa in Knightsbridge looks to provide revitalising and relaxing treatments to women both during pregnancy and after the birth of their baby.
This “recently opened Knightsbridge beauty haven incorporates Baby Glow Maternity Spa, run by Philip Davies,(previously of TRIYOGA) a specialist in pre and post natal wellbeing and baby care” (Vogue 2007)
BABYGLOW offer a diverse range of ante and post-natal Spa and Therapeutic treatments and products, including La Prairie, Mama Mio, Dermologica, and Hema. They are designed to optimise mother and baby's wellbeing during pregnancy and labour, as well as making a huge difference to a new mum's recovery.
Treatments include:
The Yummy Tummy
This treatment begins with an application of Gravida Pulse Point Oil and gentle skin brushing to increase circulation, gently exfoliate and improve the skin tone. A concentrated serum and deep treatment mask will be applied to soothe and moisturise the abdomen. Enjoy a relaxing lower leg and foot massage whilst the intensive Stretch Ease Serum and mask take effect.
The Smoothie
Rejuvenate your skin and clear your mind in preparation for your pending arrival. Mama Mio Smoothie will exfoliate your skin so gently (but effectively) followed by the most moisturising massage to hydrate and elasticise your skin. A luxurious scalp massage will sweep away your stress, leaving you with skin to rival your baby’s bottom.
4th Trimester Healing Hour
For up to four months after delivery, your body still behaves as though it is pregnant. This treatment offers a relaxing top to toe massage to help realign and restore the body as it naturally adapts and returns to being one person again. This is your healing hour and you’ve earned it! A perfect present from your loved ones or even to yourself.
Acupuncture, Massage and/or Reflexology can make a huge difference to a new mum’s post natal recovery. Treatments can help with afterpains, sweats, persistent bleeding, breast feeding problems – lack of milk and mastitis, post natal depression and feeling unable to cope.
”Women should be encouraged to realise that they are not expected to bounce back from childbirth within a few weeks. During the first month following birth a new mum should rest as often as possible, whenever it’s possible and wherever it’s possible - day or night. Eat, sleep and feed – or be fed!” says Philip Davies.
Partners and families often rally around for a week or two but then it’s business as usual with women expected to be fit and ready for anything. Take things slowly. Factor in some ‘you time’.
Glow Spa and Beauty also incorporates OUTER GLOW Beauty & Grooming using La Prairie products including GET GLOWING - a La Prairie facial incorporating Cellular Radiance Pure Gold Serum and Glowing Hands, La Prairie manicures, and Glowing Toes, La Prairie pedicures using La Prairie Microdermabrasion and Cellular Hand Cream. Having a beauty treatment can sometimes give you as much of a lift as the more therapeutic treatments, if you look good, you feel good too.
