Discover Thai Herbal Ball Massage
18 April 2007
Thai Herbal Ball Massage is now available in the UK. It's a combination of deep tissue and thai massage using a herbal ball containing herbal mixtures to help relax and stimulate the muscles and senses, and reputed to give you boundless energy.
The round cotton bundles containing herbal mixtures used in this massage technique were once the secret tools of ancient healers, and up until recently, could be obtained only from traditional healers or from the Thai massage school at Bangkok's Wat Po, or Temple of the reclining Buddha.
During Thai Herbal Ball Massage the Herbal Ball is pressed firmly onto the muscles during the treatment. This is designed to release tension, rejuvenate the skin, strengthen metabolism, and release toxins.
What’s in the Herbal Ball?
Thai Herbal Balls are made from "Samunphray" which is a variety of herbs found in Thailand. Each herbal ball has slightly different ingredients depending on the effect. Most of the balls include:
Camphor: Its cooling and tingling sensation helps invigorate the skin.
Lemongrass: This has antiseptic properties to help clear up the skin.
Turmeric: Its antiseptic properties help soothe and cleanse irritated skin.
Prai: This ginger is a natural moisturizer that relieves muscular aches and pains while softening the skin.
Kaffir lime: Help to tone the skin.
Tamarind leaf: Used in herbal steams as the acidity is thought to help the skin absorb the other herbal ingredients faster.
Menthol: Know as "Pimsen" in Thai, this is a mineral with a sharp mint smell similar to that of Camphor. Its refreshing smell helps ease respiratory problems, coughs and blocked sinuses.
Benefits of Herbal Massage
The Thai Herbal Ball Massage relaxes stiff muscles by reducing pain, tension and spasm and improves blood circulation. The herbs used smell very refreshing and uplifting like a cedar or Japanese cypress.
